Way back in 2014, when my daughter was teething (she’s now ten and will LOVE me telling this story), I used to drive around all night so that the rocking of the car would send her to sleep. I wasted countless hours (not to mention hundreds of pounds in diesel), but at some point in the exhaustion I stumbled upon a 24-hour drive through coffee place that changed everything. Exhausted and loaded up with espressos and Diet Coke, I spent a dozen nights developing a story that started at the end, combined my love of rugby, gangsters and unrealistically-attractive police officers, and saw a coffee shop held up over a piece of stale apple pie. From there, All Night Joe’s was born.
Having been completed in 2016, bounced around international film festivals and screenwriting competitions since 2017, and parked on a hard drive while I moved on to other things during the pandemic, I am thrilled to announce that the screenplay for All Night Joe’s will finally be available to buy in paperback and ebook format for the first time from November 30th, 2023. It’s a bit of a departure from Beware the Boy and The Soprano, but hopefully you’ll have as much fun with it as I did.

I’m thrilled to announce that my second novel – The Soprano – will be released on October 31st 2022. To say that it’s a bit different from the last one is something of an understatement! It’s the first in a series of mystery novels, set in and around Cardiff.

Catherine Green joined the Police to find her sister, secretly copying case notes and scavenging scraps of information that formed part of the original investigation. But seventeen years after she disappeared, there isn’t much hope that she’ll ever be found.
When Sarah’s body is unearthed on a construction site in the centre of Cardiff Catherine is distanced from the case by her superiors, forcing her to enlist local Private Investigator Damien Owens to help find the truth about Sarah’s final moments – and catch a killer who’s escaped justice for almost two decades.
The Soprano is the first book in the Hard Hat series, available now. It was the second book written by M.A. during the pandemic, and draws upon his years of working both in construction and at ambitious and spend-happy universities.
